THE BE LIKE RED MOVEMENT

“Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Red lived this scripture. She let her light shine brightly. When she walked into a room, everyone knew there was something different about her. She didn’t just talk the talk, she walked the walk.

Red was quick to offer to pray for her friends and anyone she sensed needed a word of encouragement. Red’s prayers were short and simple, but she knew God heard them and was happy that she was such a powerful ambassador for the Kingdom.

How about you? Do you want to BE LIKE RED? Do you want to become a REDDIE?

If you do, let the world know about your commitment and vow to simply let your light shine for Jesus by participating in the BE LIKE RED TIKTOK CHALLENGE by posting on TikTok using the hashtag #belikered. You can post your video wearing any of the thirty-two Be Like Red t-shirt designs which are offered in children and adult sizes. Of course, you can wear anything you like, but you might especially enjoy wearing a t-shirt that carries the message you most relate to.

You can participate in the challenge on your own or with your friends, your siblings, your parents, your grandparents or your Sunday School class.

You might want to hold up a poster board with your commitment written out. You might want to sing the classic “This Little Light of Mine” song or a worship song that resonates with you. You might want to create your own song or choreograph a dance routine that shows your joy for the Lord.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY (Adults)

Would you like to receive the daily email Prayer for the Day which is sent out at 4 am every morning? The Prayer for the Day is written for adults and consists of a scripture verse, an explanation and a prayer.

The following is a sample Prayer for the Day.

EXAMPLE

“The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid? When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear, though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.” Psalm 27:1-3

Fear wants to imprison us, it wants to rob us of our joy and it wants to overtake us. Fear starts in our mind. Will I have enough money to pay this month’s bills? Will my marriage ever heal? Will my children ever get their lives together?

We have to continuously remind ourselves that God is bigger than our problems. He already has the answer. Conquering fear requires us to lay our worries at the foot of the cross and trust God – really trust Him.

If you struggle with the issue of fear, ask God for His help in overcoming this stronghold in your life.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are bigger than our problems and always guide us if we just call on You. We pray that You will set us free from fear that paralyzes us and robs us of our joy. We pray that as we walk through our current problems, You will remind us of all the troubles in the past that You helped us through.

We pray that we will quickly push fear out of our minds as soon as we feel it creeping into our thoughts and replace it with confidence in Your love and power. We pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

VERSE OF THE WEEK (Young People)

Every Saturday I will be posting a new verse of the week on our Facebook page to help you grow and mature in your Christian walk.

EXAMPLE

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-15

Jesus wants and needs each of you to be the light of the world. The light within you will make a difference. Make a commitment today to let the light of Jesus shine brightly through you.

Picture this. You walk into a dark room. You stumble and reach around to find the light switch. Now the room is bright. This is how it should be when you enter a room. You are the light that makes the room bright. You are the light that makes the world bright.

Heavenly Father, I commit to being the light in the darkness. I pray that my light will shine brightly for Jesus. I pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

When you share your testimony of what God has done for you, it helps build the faith of others. It helps them to see the power and importance of prayer. It gives them hope when things might seem hopeless.
